Desert Dwellers

The Desert Dwellers have really moved me with their music. They have a deep global vision, and the production skills to capture it. This music is perfect for meditation, yoga, and for exploring  heightened states of consciousness. Desert Dwellers primarily consists of Amani Friend and Treavor Moontribe, amongst a webwork of inspiring collaborators.

Taking a new approach on digital production, they have combined the raw sounds of the natural world with skillfully blended deep bass, earthy percussion, etheric voices and culture crossing instrumentation. .  The result has been the prolific production of genre blending downtempo grooves that make for memorable listening experiences.

This first track, Wandering Sadhu is absolutely beautiful.

The Dub Sutras is just classic Desert Dwellers.  I feel more relaxed just writing about these guys!

Crossing the Desert ~  enchanting vocals, cool bass playing and their signiture open vibe.

Globular

One of my favorite producers at the moment is from Bristol in the UK and goes by the name Globular. His most recent album entitled 'a self fufilling prophecy' is available for free download at ektoploazm.com  which is a really cool free music portal.

The first track below is entitled "A Singular Synergy". This one is a personal favorite which  takes you deep into the Globular vortex of warped tribal vocals, chanting elves, throbbing bass lines and tripped out sounds. Globular is psy dub at it's best.  ~Enjoy

Subversion is a good example of modern dub music. Dub has it's roots in 1970's Jamaica, but it's producers like Globular who are keeping this sound fresh and alive. The drums feel live and the bass is deep. It draws you in with skankin' guitar, long delays and syncopated vocals. Light it up, and pass it on!

Welcome

I'm a music lover, searching far and wide for new sounds. I spent the early 90's following the Grateful Dead and the late 90's following the rave scene.  I've moved away from hi-energy electronica and have fallen into the vortex of psychedelic chillout music.

It's a space where ethnic sounds collide with modern day production. Deep dubby bass lines, solid drum grooves, eastern percussion, warped vocals, and pulsing synth lines; this is music that draws you in, and embraces you with a sonic hug.

This blog is my effort to help define and archive this global movement in sound.  I aim to showcase producers who tap into the psychoactive mindset and transmit these signals to the listener. Sit back and enjoy!
